This medicine increases your risk of meningococcal infection (caused by Neisseria meningitidis) and other general infections.1 Infections triggered by Neisseria meningitidis can lead to brain inflammation, known as encephalitis, and bloodstream infections causing sepsis.1

To prevent these infections, it’s crucial to get vaccinated against meningococcal infection before starting treatment.1 To ensure your vaccination is effective, it is necessary to receive meningococcal vaccine at least 2 weeks before you start your treatment.1
If you cannot be vaccinated 2 weeks beforehand, your doctor will prescribe antibiotics to reduce the risk of infection.1 Usually, antibiotics will betaken until 2 weeks after you have been vaccinated, please follow the advice from your doctor.1

You should be aware that vaccination may not always fully prevent this type of infection.1 In accordance with national recommendations, your doctor might consider that you need supplementary measures to prevent infection.1
